History of the carpet exhibition
Iran’s carpet exhibition was held for the first time in 1371 under the auspices of the then Ministry of Commerce, and it gradually took the title of the most important event in the field of handwoven carpets in the country. This exhibition has lasted for more than two decades and in the past periods, it has been a place to supply carpets for many foreign buyers. This task was sometimes done through Iranian sellers and sometimes through traders from other countries.
In the last decade, with the political tensions, Iran’s hand-woven carpets have faced sanctions. And practically, many of the past business relationships were in trouble. According to statistics, the embargo on the export of handwoven carpets to the United States has reduced Iran’s share in international markets by 70%. Therefore, many manufacturers have focused on acquiring the domestic market, and thus the Iranian carpet exhibition has become more and more a place for dealing and supplying handwoven carpets in the country, and it was still in the center of attention of the Iranian carpet market.
In the past three years, due to the spread of the disease of Covid-19, many economic activities came under the influence, and hand-woven carpets were not exempted from this situation. The conditions for holding the 29th Iranian Handwoven Carpet Exhibition in September became possible.
We are sincerely waiting for your arrival.
